The administrator of business automation systems or ERP – a specialist has knowledge of the basics of production automation, modern information technologies and their impact on business processes.


ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is a set of applications that allow you to create a single automated system for managing an enterprise (or its key business processes). It includes a set of subsystems related to the company’s activities: finance (accounting and tax accounting and reporting, budgeting, etc.), production, personnel management, marketing and sales (CRM) and others. The ERP system allows you to achieve coordinated work of various divisions of the enterprise, while reducing administrative costs.

Among all information technologies, automation of business processes occupies one of the leading places in terms of development. Many enterprises and business companies are increasingly switching to automated management in order to plan, optimize, control and document all processes from the beginning of order formation to the release of finished products in real time. At the moment, even small companies seek to automate their systems of accounting for goods or services, goods in stock and control of personnel work and choose such software products as CRM systems (Customer Relationship Management). Companies of any business profile use such systems, and accordingly look for specialists in this area.

Essentially, the administrator of business automation information systems is a development engineer or consulting engineer who has knowledge of the basics of production automation, modern information technologies and their impact on business processes; complex automation of bank administration, business process modeling methods; business process modeling tools; methods of improving the manageability and security of electronic record keeping, managing business processes in the banking sector and at enterprises, and is able to perform technical maintenance of such systems.

The main duties of administrators are:

  • participation in the development and implementation of projects to create CRM-, IFS-, ERP – systems and their technical support, database administration (MySQL, Oracle), ensuring the operability of server equipment and business applications;
  • monitoring and carrying out preventive measures on service platforms;
  • analysis of used resources and preparation of proposals for the development of service platforms;
  • analysis of failures and failures of components of service platforms, development of proposals to ensure their stable and efficient operation;
  • administration of the company’s IP network (equipment configuration, troubleshooting).

Our students study profile and optional disciplines that provide knowledge of Linux, MySQL; Windows Server (Active Directory, Terminal Server), knowledge of DBMS and SQL basics; and also study the disciplines of business processes in information communications, security of transactions in open systems, administration of information systems, databases.

 

Skills required at work:
To work as a consulting engineer for business process automation, you need to be able to create presentations, you need to understand business processes. Knowledge of several programming languages, the basics of databases and the basics of programming, the ability to build SQL queries will be a big plus.

 

Where do business process automation specialists work?
Such specialists work in system integrators (that is, companies that implement, support, and are also developers of various corporate IT automation solutions), IT consulting companies (implementation), the IT department of enterprises that already have an ERP system installed (support); large online stores, banking institutions that provide virtual customer support.
